The Battle of the Bulge is now history!!! We want to thank everyone who
came to the field and supported us for our first large scenario game on the new
field.
Please enjoy a few photos from the event, last updated May 5th.
This was one of the bloodiest German offensive of WWII. The Germans began the
attack early on December 16th, 1944 and advanced their line until on January
1st, 1945 the allies began their counter offensive and stopped the Germans short
of their goal of reaching Antwerp, Belgium. Pushing them back to their original
line before the German offensive began.
Our scenario game will focus at the point on January 1st, 1945 when the Allies
began the counter attack on the Germans. As the Allies one division, 101st
Airborne, will be surrounded by Germans on all sides. A second division will be
holding the front lines preparing to advance and push the Germans back.
Your goal as the 101st Airborne is to hold Bastogne keep the Germans from taking
the all important town and the Ardennes until reinforcements arrive. You are low
on ammo and supplies but high on spirit. The fate of the free world is on your
shoulders...don’t let us down.
As the Allies front lines you must advance and push the Axis back and take over
the territory that was lost. Link up with the 101st providing much needed
reinforcements and continue the attack pushing the Germans back to their
homeland.
The Germans, your goal is simple! Total control of the area and annihilation of
the Allies.
"Bastogne":
This will be a simulated town made out of the large round hay pales there will
be 40 to 60 plus bunkers located there. This area is 40,000 square feet (1
acre)this is below the grade of the road.
"Clervaux": This is thick natural cover,
not bushes, lots of trees here with minimal bunkers.
"Ardennes": This is a little more open
and since this is where the 101st is located there is lots of man made bunkers
located here as well as small hills and bushes with a ditch along the road for
crawling in.
"Ortheuville": This again is natural
cover as well fairly thick with more bush it is below the grade of the road so
you have to climb the hill to get to the road. There will be some man made
bunkers in here.
"Wellin": This is at the same grade as
the road and is mostly natural cover lots of fallen trees and bush to get behind
great to crawl through but will again contain some man made bunkers to hide
behind.
"Ciney": Is a paved parking lot another
40,000 square feet (1 acre) here we will place another simulated town made out
of air bunkers. We have 40 to 60 plus bunkers we can place here. It is also
below the grade of the road.
"Dinant": This is again natural cover it
is a thick tree and bush area lots to hide behind and crawl through.
The black "roads" around the field are paved roads. The 2 supply depots will be
fully equipped with air and paint and can be used by both sides. The percentages
listed are the percent of troops that will be placed in those sections at the
start of the game from all troops present. After the start of the game movement
is free will, provided you stay in bounds!
