 The
year is 2026 and all is not as it should be!
After the US withdrew from the middle east in 2011, the OPEC Cartel began an
extreme management of the world oil supply. Their plan was to reduce the flow of
oil to such a low level that it would drive the price of oil over $800/barrel.
Well it worked!!
The major industrialize countries like the US, Canada, Britain managed to wade
out the initial crises but soon everyone realized that as the price continued to
grow that something would have to be done to extend the availability of fuel.
In 2013 all governments began a rationing program of oil supplies trying to
eliminate the most wasteful areas of oil consumption. Once the price of oil
reached $300/barrel late in 2016 the US and Canada began stock piling as much as
they could to help get them through this siege. Power plants were put on
rotational operation, so power was not always available. 2018 saw an era of deja
vu! Most low/middle income residents could not afford fuel for vehicles
and heating because the cost of gasoline was $15/litre! Most people traveled by
bicycle or horse and buggy. Goods crossed the ocean by sail and air travel was
all but non existent. Families began growing there own food and the supplies
that needed to be purchased were expensive enough that only necessities were
had. And developing alternate sources of fuel or power..well... required oil to
produce.
 2023
oil prices increased to $600/barrel gas was to expensive for most people to
afford and fighting amongst citizens had rapidly increased, oil was becoming
more valuable then gold. Oil was being traded for supplies and if you were lucky
enough to ‘find’ a supply of oil it could fund your family for months.
The Opec Cartel were not with out compassion however...they began a “friendly
game” of 'Profitcy' to help alleviate their boredom. The
goals are simple... the winner of the game would control a portion of oil output
and receive a percentage of the profits from said oil.
Our time has come the winner in our region will gain control of the whole North
American continent!

The Scenario Setup & Game
Field
Players will be divided into two equal groups the ‘Petroleum Pirates’ or the
‘Oil Bandits’ you choose!
The OPEC Profitcy will develop a story line that will progress through
rounds of missions and not continuous play. We will create specific situations
which as a group you must complete within the time limit of each round in order
to get the points for that particular mission The winners will be determined by
point totals from all missions completed.
